Intellectually, May was a joyful and careful observer of the mechanisms of life. She trained as a biologist and ecologist, but her relentless curiosity led her to such diverse fields as fashion, psychological testing, art, education and even the construction trade. Her house was always filled with new crafts, books and experiments conducted for no other reason than to better understand the world. These few pages from one of May’s journals, show her keen observations, and sense of humor.
